The word Marcilly comes from the Gallic word “march” and the Latin words mariscus and mariscelleus which mean “marshes, swampy places”. It is one of the first 5 1 st growths officially recognized in 1943. Since the 2018 vintage, when the vintage allows and deserves it, we elaborate the Cuvée Hermine from our best barrels and our Clos Marcilly Monopole “classic” from the rest of our Chardonnay from this parcel. This cuvée presents aromas of pear, lime blossom, fresh almonds, buttered and lemony notes, a full and dynamic mouth with aromas of gunflint.
